THE BERET

Ooh la la, berets are having a moment wouldn’t ya know. I’ve always loved a beret; they’re the perfect addition to give some of that ever sought after Parisian style. So classic, so chic, and oh so practical. Obviously, wearing a hat helps to bear the cold temperatures outside. But they also come in very handy on those bad hair days, or, in my case, when you simply can’t be bothered doing anything more than running a hair brush through it. The best part though is that wearing a beret always makes me feel like I’m getting that little bit closer to being Cher Horowitz from Clueless, one of my all time favourite movies and ultimate 90s style icon. I am forever wanting to emulate her style, and along with plaid skirts and over the knee socks, a beret is an easy way to do so. I like them best worn slightly off centre and with messy hair worn down to keep it looking laidback and cool. I usually stick to a simple, goes with everything black beret, but this little beauty with its eyelets and studs is just that bit more special.

I’ve worn it with a tan coloured sleeveless shift dress in a suedette material from Primark, and a plain black top with a high neckline worn underneath. And of course my outfit wouldn’t be complete without some utterly dreamy boots. I attempted taking the photos without a coat and lasted the whole of 90 seconds before I had to give in and put one on. Seriously, it is freezing. I’m officially over winter and can’t wait for spring to come already. Until then though, at least I have the cutest beret to help keep me warm and looking good.

  1. The beret looks great on you! I'm always admiring them on others, but yet to find a beret that suits my head. Though I have to agree with wearing hats to cover a bad hair day, I feel that's almost always the reason why I wear a hat! It's the best way to still look chic, but not have to worry about your hair. I really enjoy reading your stories, I pretty much laughed out loud when you said you tried taking your coat off but it was so cold! I feel for you, hopefully it warms up soon!

    1. Thank you so much! I really am sick of the cold. And it's been raining constantly which is making taking photos very difficult. I'm glad you enjoyed reading, I really appreciate it! Xx
